Keep Left! is a series I am currently working on in the studio. Multi layered monotone aerosol stencils and acrylic on large linen canvas.
Zebra Signs – await us at intersections, dead ends, roundabouts. Warning us to make our turn one way or the other. Go left, keep left, go one way, go this way, don’t go that way. Stop – dead end. Intersection. Long or short journeys, town to town, state to state – they are the same, they are different. Bigger, wider, oblong, square, squat, high. Once seen impossible to un-see, appearing EVERYWHERE at every turn. Posing questions – keep left of what? What is worthy of the side step? What to veer towards or away from?
